Monkfish BBQ skewers

On Fridays the man with the fish van visits our local farm shop. I always like to order from him if I’m taking fish on a job, it’s very good fish and he never lets me down. This week was bbq time (at home – an unusual weekend off!) so I went to see about a bit of fish for the bbq, I know it can be done in quite an ordinary way placed on the bbq in tin foil, but the result has to be pretty similar to how it would turn out in the oven, so I was going for something a little bit more hardy, something that could take a bit of flame.

Monkfish is a meaty fish, the perfect candidate for such an experiment. Naturally they needed to look bbq so onto skewers with king prawns, cherry tomatoes and red onion and then to the grill!

And not just any grill – a fantastic home-built feat of engineering…
